Coaching at the Cardiff Barrage November 2011 The Sea Angling coaches received an application for coaching from a group of mothers and their children to spend a day sea fishing. Neither of them had ever tried this type of fishing before so the application came as a bit of sup rise. With tackle kindly donated by the environment agency we offered them the opportunity. The day started meeting at 0900 at the bay, we got to know the children and parents to break the ice we asked questions about them and what their interest's were and has anyone caught a fish before. The weather was not the kindest in the world as it remained overcast all day with a brisk SE wind which at this venue is straight in your face. Did it put them off? not likely all were as keen as mustard. All adults and children caught fish with Whiting the most popular catch of the day. A chap fishing to our right managed to catch a Dogfish and, when we mentioned that this was indeed a small Shark they could not wait to get a look and feel the skin of the fish, the party were amazed at how rough the skin was on this fish. it was then returned to the sea. The session ended and the party left with a great deal of satisfaction and made enquiries about another session in the new year. |
