News Letter welsh federation of shore Anglers Autumn 2006 Wales Champions of the world
May I first add a thank you to all who have supported me in the recent changes I have made to i implement success to our national teams. I am proud to confirm Wales are World Champions yet again. The team travelled to take part in the World Games in Portugal in September. It really has been a worthy result, and the team is to be congratulated for their performance. Role Call Franco Attanasio Joe Arch Dave Morrel Cyril Cross (whose memory tends to leave certain documents at home) Gerald John Pete Corker (who narrowly missed out on an individual medal) The event will be remembered as one of Wales's finest moments I have often considered why we in Wales do not receive the recognition we deserve, but this alludes me, in fact can any one tell me other than Colin Jackson what Wales have been as successful in recent years, in the last ten years we have had 4 individual world gold medals ,2 team gold's. Many other nations would give their all for this sort of achievement. Onward to the future Our last leg of our qualifier is on the 11th of November, as the match times need to suit the tide, it is really one of the early bird catches the worm days, so bright and early fishing is at 8am until 12noon. Meet 6.15 latest don't blame me if you are late!!! To prevent any confusion on the team selections I reiterate the procedure this year. The top 9 anglers will qualify for the Squad the wild card will make up the tenth position; the remaining positions will come from the top twenty. The squad of 12 will be named on the 1st of January, the selection to the teams will be made by me, if consultation is needed I will discuss with the nominated area leaders. Once the teams are selected they will form groups of six, the team will only be finalized at the relative international venues , reserves will be an important part of the team, and will be expected to work along side the team Manager. The selected team will be handed a set of rules that will have return slips confirming their acceptance, this will be compulsory to their individual selection to the team. We must also thank our cosponsors of the teams as without their assistance our attendance at these internationals would be really limited Garry Evans Tackle centres Greys of Alnwick Ultima Next years 2007/8 Qualifiers will be held in the following months February Talacre May/June Borth November Cardiff The dates and entry costs will be confirmed in due course Tight lines Mike Flynn
